The Scholarship Foundation of Theta Chi Gamma Phi provides scholarships to undergraduate brothers who demonstrate outstanding academic performance; service to the Fraternity, school and community; leadership activities; financial need; and clear personal and career goals and objectives.

We have all benefited from the experiences that being a member of Theta Chi has provided us. The traditions and ideals of our beloved fraternity have shaped us into the men we are today.

We have an obligation- a high and sacred purpose, if you will- to provide those same experiences to the next generation. The Scholarship Fund enables us to make a difference in the lives of others.

Through the charitable contributions of alumni, undergraduates, parents and friends, The Scholarship Foundation supports the academic scholarships of Theta Chi Fraternity Gamma Phi chapter.

The first and original fund is a
savings account managed by brother Karl Gramann '77.  Departed brother Neal Thomas '61, a former president of the Scholarship Fund, set up an additional option for investing: a large cap core growth and income fund.  Front end loaded at 5.75% with an expense ratio of .59%. The new account is managed by brother Neal's son Doug Thomas. Both accounts are accessible by the current Treasurer.

Contributions to both accounts are tax-deductible.

More information about the Scholarship Foundation Board:

The NWU Theta Chi Scholarship Fund was established by the generous bequest of Fred Martens, and it has been supported by brothers who have contributed to the fund over the years.  The fund is administered by a board of directors consisting of four members.  Officers of the board are a president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer.

The primary responsibility of the board of directors is to maintain the viability of the monies within the fund, and award scholarships to the qualifying undergraduate members of Gamma Phi Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity.  The Scholarship Fund is also the majority shareholder of the NWU Theta Chi Fraternity Building Company, which oversees the physical property of the Gamma Phi Chapter house.  As such, a member of the Scholarship Fund's board attends the annual meeting of the Building Company to vote the Scholarship Fund's shares.

Board members typically "meet" twice per year to make scholarship awards.  One of those "meetings" is also the board's annual meeting to organize and elect its officers.  The board's meetings are usually held via telephone conference, Zoom/TEAMs, or via email.
